Learn About Nitrifying Bacteria

What can Nitrifying Bacteria do for your tank?
One & Only Nitrifying Bacteria is a mixture of nitrifying bacteria developed by Dr. Timothy Hovanec, one of the World’s premier authorities on nitrifying bacteria in aquaria and closed aquatic life-support systems.  One & Only, live nitrifying bacteria, will quickly establish a functioning biological filter in your aquarium allowing you to immediately add fish to your tank. Use One & Only to avoid New Tank Syndrome (NTS). NTS occurs when aquarium water has such high levels of ammonia and/or nitirite that your fish die.

Here's the nitty gritty:
Fish excrete ammonia.  Your aquarium is a closed system and this ammonia can build up in aquarium water to high levels and become lethal to your fish.   Eventually nitrite starts to build up to high levels in your tank and this is also lethal to fish.  This is New Tank Syndrome and something no one wants to experience.

One & Only quickly establishes a biofilter in your newly set-up aquarium so that your fish do not experience New Tank Syndrome (NTS). One & Only contains species of ammonia- and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria that prefer to live in the fish tank environment. One & Only will maintain ammonia and nitrite below toxic concentrations and establish a fully functioning biological filter in less than half the time without it.

Scientifically speaking:  What exactly are nitrifying bacteria?
Nitrifying bacteria are chemolithoautotrophic bacteria that naturally occur in rivers, lakes, streams and the ocean.   Chemolithoautotrophic is just a big term that simply means these bacteria get their energy by breaking down different chemicals (as opposed to plants that get energy from the sun).  And lucky for us, these chemicals are naturally made by your fish.  One & Only helps you build a natural ecosystem in your aquarium that is beneficial to both your fish and these bacteria!
